Appointment of Mr. Leo Mun Wai as the new Chairman of the ACMF

The ACMF is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Leo Mun Wai as the new Chairman of the ACMF, with effect from 19 September 2011. He succeeds Mr. Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala, former Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand who has been appointed the Finance Minister.
 
Mr. Leo is currently the Assistant Managing Director (Capital Markets) at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), an appointment which he has held since 1 April 2010. Mr. Leo has an extensive background in financial supervisory work, including 13 years experience in financial supervision, training and career development, external relations and banking supervision. He has also previously served as Executive Director of the Banking Supervision Department at MAS.
 
“It is an honour to succeed Mr. Thirachai as Chairman of the ACMF and on behalf of all members, I would like to thank him for his tremendous contribution to the work of the ACMF since its inception.” said Mr Leo.
 
Mr. Leo added, “The ACMF will continue to work together with the private sector to promote the strengthening and deepening of regional capital markets. We will continue to work towards building capacity and laying the infrastructure for the development of ASEAN capital markets, with a long-term goal of achieving cross-border collaboration between the various capital markets in ASEAN. We aim to develop a more efficient regional capital market which will support the long-term growth and attractiveness of ASEAN as an asset class.”
